Rock U Canada Workshops
Build Your Song: A Hands-On Songwriting Workshop
This workshop will start with an interactive session exploring the building blocks of great songs—structure, hooks, progressions, and practical theory involved. You’ll also explore foundational principles of lyricism along with proven strategies to break through writer’s block and develop ideas quickly.
From there, participants will split into small groups or work individually on a guided writing exercise, with personalized, one-on-one coaching from our instructors. Whether you’re writing your first song or refining something you’ve been sitting on for a while, you’ll leave with new material, practical tools, and a clearer creative process.
Open to students ages 12+. Designed for musicians who want to write, collaborate, and perform with confidence.

First Gig Friday - Rescheduled
First Gig Friday is Rock U Canada’s live music night designed to help musicians learn how open mics work in a safe, fun, and encouraging environment. The first hour features a student showcase that highlights what Rock U produces, followed by an open stage where performers can sign up in advance to play a 2–3 song set. Free entry for all, and new guests can enter to win a free month of a Rock U band class.
Sign up to perform and take your first step from practicing to performing. New guests will be automatically entered for the giveaway.

Adult Beginner Learn to Jam with Rob
A relaxed, no-pressure way to try jamming with other musicians — no experience required.
Our Free Adult Jam Night is a safe, friendly space to dip your toes into group playing without the intimidation. We keep things simple, supportive, and fun, so you can show up, plug in, and try out a casual jam at your own pace.
Perfect for beginners or anyone who’s always wanted to jam but didn’t know where to start. Come hang out, meet other players, and enjoy making music in a welcoming atmosphere.
