HeadLiNERS Auditioned Band
Grades 7–12 students are invited to audition for Headliners, our showcase band at Rock U Canada.
Headliners is our top performance group, representing the school at major events and live shows throughout the year. This isn’t just about technical ability. This band is about becoming a complete performer. We’re looking for strong musicians who also bring focus, collaboration, and a positive attitude to every rehearsal.
Members of Headliners set the tone for what it means to be part of Rock U: prepared, professional, and ready to own the stage.

Headliners is built for students who are ready to push themselves. You’ll refine your technique, expand your musical vocabulary, and take on more challenging material. Expect a faster pace, higher expectations, and the kind of growth that comes from playing with other serious musicians.

Headliners take the stage regularly, representing Rock U Canada at showcases and special events. Students are expected to come prepared, stay committed, and deliver performances that reflect the very best of the school.

Headliners set the tone for the entire school. As a member, you’re not just developing as a musician, you’re becoming a leader. From your attitude in rehearsal to your presence on stage, you help define what it means to be part of Rock U.

At this level, it’s not just about playing the right part, it’s about how you play them. Headliners dig into dynamics, tone, feel, and musical expression to create performances that are tight, intentional, and engaging.
What to Know About Headliners
- Auditions take place every April for placement in the following September season
- In most cases, students are expected to complete at least one year in Teen Spirit before auditioning
- All Headliners members take private lessons on their instrument at Rock U to support their growth and preparation
- Weekly rehearsals run like other Teen Spirit bands but with additional rehearsals and performance opportunities
- Students are selected based on a combination of skill, reliability, and a positive, collaborative attitude.
- This is a faster-paced program with higher expectations for practice and preparation outside of rehearsal time
- Headliners is designed for committed students ready for a more performance-focused band experience
