About Julie
Julie (she/they) is an independent alternative artist & music educator specializing in voice, piano, performance, songwriting & guitar. Known for her electrifying performances alongside her bandmates in SHY FRiEND, Julie has become one of Calgary’s most renown frontpeople, with recent performances at the Calgary Stampede Coca-Cola Stage, Sled Island, and the King Eddy, as well as organizing and embarking her band on their first tour.
Julie is formally trained in voice, piano, violin, and guitar, and is also the main writer & producer for the SHY FRiEND project. Julie attended University of Calgary for a Bachelor Degree in Classical Music Composition & Classical Voice before focusing her energy fully on her music project. Julie has been a music educator for over 10 years, with a passion for performance-based teaching, and loves to focus her lessons towards building lifelong skills & passion for music-based connection.

15 years of classical violin & piano study including RCM level 8 certification in both.
