Rock U Canada Policies (updated May 2024)

TUITION:

Monthly tuition fees are withdrawn on the 1st of the month.

A method of payment is required on your account at the time of registration. Methods of payment are Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Visa Debit, or by request, Post dated cheque.

Payments may be made by e-transfer.  E-transfer payments must be received before the first of the month or payment will be collected on the method of payment registered on the account.

For students beginning mid-month, the tuition will be prorated and then the monthly tuition will start on the 1st of the following month. Some group classes may not be available to begin mid-session and others classes may have additional requirements prior to joining the class.

Students may book additional lessons at a per lesson cost.

FEES:

The annual, non-refundable registration fee is $25 per student per year and will be applied upon registration.

An $85 performance fee will be applied each semester per student in a rock band group. This fee guarantees 2 tickets to that semester’s performance.  If additional tickets are available they will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.

There will be a $30.00 NSF charge on all returned cheques or automatic debit bounce backs.

STUDENT ABSENCES:

Cancelation of an individual lesson requires 24 hours notice to be eligible for a make-up lesson.  

Makeup lessons must be taken during the current semester. There are no make-up lessons offered for last-minute cancellations on the same day of the lesson. There is a maximum of one make-up lesson offered per semester.

 

Missed Group lessons are not eligible for make-up classes. 

Students must arrive on time for lessons. We will not extend time if you are late. Lessons will start and end at the confirmed times.

LESSON AND GROUP CLASS WITHDRAWALS:

We operate year round. Lessons and groups continue through the summer months.  Students may withdraw from lessons or groups with four lesson week’s written notice provided before the 1st day of the month. Students may continue to take their lessons up to and including the final lesson date. Your account will be reviewed to determine your final payment based on the number of lessons you have received and the number of lessons you have paid for.

TEACHER ABSENCES:

Teachers may schedule a substitute teacher from time to time. Any lessons canceled by the instructor will be made up at a mutually agreeable time. If a student cancels or does not attend a scheduled make-up lesson, the make-up lesson is forfeited.

STUDENT CONDUCT:

Students are expected to be prepared and show appropriate behavior.

Rock U Canada reserves the right to dismiss any student due to frequent absences, disciplinary problems, overdue tuition payments and/or parental noncompliance with the school’s policies.

PHOTO RELEASE:

Rock U Canada  is hereby granted permission to take photographs and or video of the students to use in newspaper, TV press release, brochures, websites, posters, and other promotional materials the school creates. Please be aware that these photos or recordings are for promotional purposes and may be used in future print or electronic publications and media communications. Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs and video footage in its name. By participating in Rock U Canada’s programs, you consent to the video or audio recording or taking of photographs for these purposes. Prior approval from the student/parent will be asked if personal information is to be attached to the photos or recordings.

HEALTH & WELLNESS POLICY:

In-person lessons are not available to students who are experiencing cold or flu symptoms.

An online lesson will be available at the student's regular scheduled lesson day and time provided that the student has given their teacher prior notice. Online lessons may also be offered if your instructor is ill.

An online option is not available for missed group classes.

Should a student display signs of sickness during their lesson time, their parent/guardian will be contacted to pick them up.

Students are asked to wash their hands before each lesson and class.

COMMUNICATION:

Rock U Canada uses text and email for school notifications and updates. Our webpage is regularly updated with performance and registration information.

GOVERNMENT MANDATED CLOSURES:

Should a government mandated closure of Rock U Canada occur, all in-person lessons will continue online. Refunds and make-up lessons will not be available for any student who refuses an online lesson that has been scheduled in place of an in-person lesson due to a government-mandated closure. Students may withdraw from lessons and classes at any time with one month’s written notice.

LIABILITY:

Rock U Canada, their directors, officers, employees, agents, volunteers, contractors, and representatives are not  liable for any damages, injuries, illnesses or claims relating to or arising from participation in music lessons, classes or performances or through entering and leaving the premises or facilities.

ACTS OF GOD:  

Although Rock U Canada expects to operate for the full duration of the school year, Rock U Canada shall be under no liability for failure to deliver services in circumstances beyond the control of Rock U Canada including but not limited to Acts of God (including, flood, storm, pandemic or other natural disasters), acts or regulations of public authorities, and political or social upheavals.
