First Gig Fridays with Rob
Friday, February 27 | 7:00 – 9:00 PM | FREE
First Gig Friday is Rock U Canada’s live music night, designed to help musicians learn how open mics work in a safe, fun, and encouraging environment. The night kicks off with a student showcase highlighting what Rock U produces. We follow this up with an open stage where all musicians and vocalists—solo acts, duets, and full bands—are welcome to sign up in advance and perform a 2–3 song set. Free entry for everyone, and new guests can enter to win a free month of a Rock U band class.

From Practice Room to The Stage with Joel

From Practice Room to Stage is a practical, real-world workshop for adult and older teen musicians who want to start playing live, join or manage a band, and present themselves professionally. This session covers how bands actually form & how to manage or join your own band, how to book gigs, how to write clear and professional booking emails, and how to build an effective Electronic Press Kit (EPK). Students will leave with concrete tools, templates, and next steps they can immediately apply to their own music projects with no prior industry experience required.

Learn how to properly care for your acoustic drum kit. From changing and tuning heads to essential maintenance and upkeep every drummer should understand.

Adult Beginner Learn to Jam with Rob
A relaxed, no-pressure way to try jamming with other musicians — no experience required.
Our Free Adult Jam Night is a safe, friendly space to dip your toes into group playing without the intimidation. We keep things simple, supportive, and fun, so you can show up, plug in, and try out a casual jam at your own pace.
Perfect for beginners or anyone who’s always wanted to jam but didn’t know where to start. Come hang out, meet other players, and enjoy making music in a welcoming atmosphere.
