Straight out of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Tyler Casat is a dynamic performer, multi-instrumentalist, and passionate music educator. He started his first band back in elementary school and hasn’t stopped gigging since. From small-town roots to major stages, Tyler’s musical journey has taken him to some unforgettable places – including the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Stampede Grandstand. Every show, every chord, every stage moment adds fuel to the creative fire he now brings to his students at Rock U Canada.
Tyler is a founding member of the band One to Walk, where he blends melodic vocals, emotional storytelling, high-energy performances and textured guitar work into their co-creative sound. Whether he’s leading his band, laying down a solo, or mentoring a student through their very first stage performance, Tyler is always in evolution – living proof of what it means to eat, live and breathe music.
He’s also a proud part of Calgary’s vibrant live music scene, including the stage at Calgary Blues Fest. Something many may not know is: Tyler is a relative of Ron Casat, a music legend in the Calgary blues scene. Though he never had the opportunity to meet Ron before his passing, the opportunity to step into a world in which he was heavily involved and respected is a moment of immense pride and gratitude for him.
Tyler believes music is meant to be shared – whether it’s a jam-packed crowd or a one-on-one lesson – he’s all about helping the next generation of musicians find their unique sound, their confidence, and their artistry.
If you ask Tyler, there’s only one thing more thrilling than playing music – and that’s playing music with a band.
So tune your guitars, warm up your vocal cords, and get ready to jam – because he can’t wait to rock out with you and uncover your greatest musical gifts!
With a focus on range, tone, and stage presence, Tyler helps his students develop healthy vocal technique and educates on proper care for their voice, while finding their unique sound and vocal qualities.
His students learn essential theory, chord progressions, and rhythmic performance in a way that’s fun, customized, hands-on, and rooted in real-world music.
From foundational chords to advanced finger picking styles, Tyler equips students with strong technical skills while encouraging their own creativity and personal expression.
Every lesson is customized for the student, focused on growth, confidence, artistic expression and of course – FUN.
Tyler isn’t just a teacher – he’s a performer, musician, collaborator, and motivator who is actively in the music industry and performance scene.
Starting in August 2025, Tyler will be transitioning into the role of Music Director at our school. As Music Director at Rock U Canada, he will be responsible for the creative direction of the school and the development and oversight of all curriculum and performance programs, making his involvement in the creative process and mentoring his students all the more detailed.
He knows what it’s like to be on stage, at brand practices, in writers’ rooms, and navigate the behind-the-scenes of the music industry as an artist. Whether you’re jamming in a garage, preparing for your very first show or getting ready for your next tour, he’ll help you fine-tune your skills, elevate your confidence, and unleash your unique musical gifts to help you be the best YOU that you can be.
